In this day and age, everyone needs to think about home security. And, in fact, many do as is evidenced by the fact that security systems and devices are booming in terms of popularity nowadays. Oddly enough, many intruders enter a home is by way of opening an unlocked door. Therefore, when it comes to home security, doors should be the first thing you look at.
There are plenty of ways to secure your doors. The first one is to use chain locks. Doors with chain locks only work when someone is inside the home. Hence, intruders or burglars would immediately take off after knowing that someone is at home. However, chain locks can be easily pulled with just one good kick from the intruder or burglar. That’s why it is essential to secure the locks with bolts or long screws.
Another way to secure the doors is by way of the dead bolt locks. This kind of lock has a bolt which is square-faced. This is a very effective lock because the bolt’s shape as well as the required pressure to move the lock in any way makes it difficult for burglars to open doors with such locks. In addition, dead bolt locks cannot be opened easily with just a spatula or knife blade.
Night latches and doorknob locks can also be used for home security doors. These types of locks are very convenient and are also cheap. However, just like the chain locks, night latches and doorknob locks are not so great in terms of efficiency. This is due to the fact that night latches can be opened by sliding any card such as credit cards into the gap between the frame and the door.
Peepholes can also be used as a security measure. These devices are actually optical viewing devices which can allow any one to determine who is outside before opening the door. A peephole should have a wide angle lens and a convex mirror should also be placed on the opposite side of the door. This way, intruders or burglars who are attempting to hide can immediately be seen.
The aforementioned locking devices can be utilized to secure home doors. In this way, intruders or burglars will surely have a difficult time trying to open the door and entering your home. So if you are worried about intruders, you should think carefully about home security and make sure you have the appropriate locks for your doors.

We are all experiencing tough times. The economy is in a slump. The dollar continues to weaken against other currencies. More and more people are losing their jobs.
Because of the tough times, some people resort to means that can grant them faster money. Many who may not have resorted to this type of activity may become tempted to resort to robbing houses, banks, restaurants and stores.
As working citizens, we want to take care of our homes, and protect them from thieves and intruders. But since we are working, we cannot be at our home all day long. However, having to worry about our homes’ safety can be an additional stress that we just don’t need. Thankfully, we now have remote home security. This is very helpful as we can be assured that we can keep track of our homes’ safety and protection even when we are at work or on vacation.
Most remote home security systems offer wireless security. Because wireless is pretty common nowadays, most home security systems have also become very cheap and affordable. You can get them in malls or even in online stores for as low as $80. You will also not have any trouble setting up wireless security in your homes because you will not get tangled with cables and wires.
Most of them may be affordable, but you also have to look at their quality. Security systems are a wise investment because they protect your other investments like your house, your car, your jewelry, and such.
So what makes up a remote home security system?
First on the list is a security camera. It is up to you if you want the conventional style or the ones that disguise themselves to be as a teddy bear, a tote bag, a radio, or an alarm clock. It is pivotal for your home’s security that you find an ideal spot to place these cameras.
Second, you need a monitor to view or replay all the things that are taking place or have already taken place. Make sure that you also get a high-resolution monitor so that you will be able to see the images more clearly. You also need motion sensors that will notify you should there be unexpected movement inside your house. To turn this off or on, you will need a security keypad that you have to strategically place near the front door and your bedroom. You can hook all these devices to your mobile phone or to your computer. So that whether you are working, working out, or out to eat you will know what is going on in your house.
A remote security system is a great thing to have if you travel a lot or are out of the house a lot. The amount that you spend will be well worth it for the peace of mind it gives you.
Home Wireless Security: No Need to Get Through the Wire

We have got wireless phones, wireless headsets, wireless microphones, wireless broadband and even wireless books. Indeed, anything wireless seems to be very popular these days. So it’s no wonder that home wireless security is becoming more and more popular.
Home wireless security (cameras, monitors and sensors) is attractive to homeowners for a number of reasons. For one, they have become very a very affordable niche within the home security industry. Wireless security cameras used to be just accessible to the rich but now, just about anyone can afford one. Second, by using these wireless devices, you can keep safe from intruders, thieves, and shoplifters. Remote security systems allow you monitor your home, even if your away. You can also avoid accidents as these systems can also alarm you should an accident be about to happen. You can also use the footage as evidence should something happen to you, your family, your house, or your property. Finally, because you do not have to deal with dozens of wires and cables, you can set them up easily.
Home wireless security may also pertain to your Internet access. And you can apply changes to your router to make sure that your Internet use is protected so that other people in close proximity to your router cannot gain access to your Internet, or worse, to your very own personal computer.
It is wise to implement changes in the default password of your router. Alter the password after you have run the installation and setup wizard of the router. You should also apply changes to your Service Set Identifier (SSID). Get a unique SSID to keep your Internet access from hackers and online intruders. You also have to carefully immobilize your SSID broadcast to further strengthen your security from hackers.
The normal IP address is set at 192.168.1.1. This is a well-known address, that not just hackers, but even ordinary computer users know it. If you will let this as it is, then you and your computer activities are in a danger of getting exposed to malevolent intruders. It is, therefore, wise to also change your IP address so that hackers and intruders will have a harder time breaking into your computer activities.
Encryption gives your wireless router enough security; therefore you should make use of it. Before doing so, you must consider its two types of encryption and which of the two will suit you better. On one hand, you have the Wired Equivalent Privacy or the WEP. It is considered vulnerable still after a hacker tries to break in to your system for a certain number of hours. Its passwords tend to be very long as well. But its advantage is that it is supported by popular router manufacturers like NIC and AP. It is also a better choice that having no encryption at all. On the other hand, there is the WiFi Protected Areas or WPA. It boasts of a big improvement from the WEP in the sense that it is regularly updated. It has also become the standard encryption since the first quarter of 2004.
Sensing Danger with Home Security Sensors
I am a 38-year-old pediatrician and a father of two girls who are both in their teens and my wife works as a Math teacher in a nearby high school. We live a rather comfortable life. We both work very hard to afford our home and the things we put in it. We want to give our children the best life we can afford. That includes sending them to a good school and buying their school and other life needs. We also do our best to protect them from harm. With all these things considered, my wife and I decided to get some home security sensors.
While many people say that an estate is a good investment, protecting it and the people living in it from harm is even a better one. We thought of several ways on how we can keep our home safe from burglars and other unwanted guests. We thought of getting a dog, but we just did not have enough time to take care of one. Getting a security guard was never an option because our house is not that huge! Home security systems are convenient and reliable.
The first step we did before getting the home security sensors was to make sure that they were really for us. We observed our place. We checked our habits whether some of us go out or go home late at night. We also looked at the strategic places—windows and doors—where we could place them.
Next thing we did was we carefully chose all the sensors that would fit well in our household. We picked up door switches and window switches. We placed them in strategic places. We no longer placed window switches to windows that can be seen from outside. We’ve notified our neighbors, so if they see anything strange going on, they can alert us about it. We also installed a security keypad near the front door. This way, if anyone of us goes home or goes out late, we can turn off the motion sensors. We also put one keypad near the master bedroom so that we can turn the sensors again before we go to bed.
We have also included a carbon monoxide detector, a smoke detector and a fire detector in our home security systems. We wanted to protect our home not just from thieves and unwanted guests, but also from fire.
It took a while before we got used to the home security sensors. A month after we got them, we would still forget to keep them activated and turn them on. My daughters have also avoided sneaking out of the house late at night. That is another bonus of getting the sensors. Sometimes, my wife would still get nervous every time the sensors alert us, only to find out that it was me or one of our daughters who triggered the alarm. But everything is fine now. We have all been used to the sensors and they are now a part of our lives. It was quite a sacrifice in the beginning. But we were glad we took it. Because now, we could sleep sound in our homes knowing that we are protected from harm.

The Reality TV Show Big Brother has become a huge hit these past few years - it has come up with 10 seasons already since its inception in 2000, and an 11th season is already on the works to air in 2009. Part of the appeal of Big Brother comes from the fact that the contestants, more commonly known as house guests, live in a house that is surrounded by cameras and microphones that are left on – 24/7 for the next three months.
Having cameras and monitors inside your home is not exactly something new, and it is not something trivial either. Putting security cameras and monitors inside your houses has been an accepted practice for many years now. But in real life, you do not just put cameras and security monitors to spy on your family members or roommates, you put them there, most importantly, for your security.
Home security monitors have become so popular that they now have different kinds. You can make use of Cathode Ray Tube monitors, Liquid Crystal Display monitors and even hand-held monitors. You can also use your computer monitors and TV screen to hook up with your security cameras. Another good thing is that most remote security systems nowadays are available with their own monitors. This way, you do not have to shop for another monitor; consequently, you will be saving more money. This is perfect if you just need one camera, say to monitor your kids or to check if the nanny really does her job. You can also use this if you just want to check out if your husband is having an affair or is your roommate stealing things from you. But, if you plan on making sure that your whole house is under surveillance to keep it from burglars or criminals, then it is for the best that you get multiple cameras and monitors.
There are thousands of stores and online markets where you get home security monitors. You have a wide array of products to choose from. They vary in size, price, and capabilities. You can get a 2.4 GHz camera for as low as $74.25. The receiver of this camera can even hook up four cameras all at the same time. Cameras on disguise are also very popular nowadays. People may be unsuspecting that a teddy bear that costs $279.89 has a high-quality camera in it already. A tote bag that sells for $189.89 and has a 2.4 GHz camera in it may also surprise other people.
It is really up to you on what you want or what you think will suit your house and your lifestyle. You have to consider your budget, but at the same time you should also not compromise the quality to your money at hand. After all, it is your and your family’s security we are talking about here. You will have to make sure that you get the monitors that have high resolution. You might miss out on something or you might find things blurry if you get the low-resolution ones just because you are being thrifty and all.

One of the best thrillers that came out in 2002 was the David Fincher-directed movie Panic Room. Starring award-winning actors Jodie Foster and Forrest Whitaker, Panic Room was about how a mother and daughter pair struggled and survived a group of robbers out for a couple of million dollars. Foster, and her daughter in the movie, played by Kristen Stewart, hid inside a panic room, which is full of security materials including a number of monitors and a phone. Although Foster and her child were subjected to other circumstances (e.g. her daughter having diabetes), which made it more difficult them to totally get rid of the thieves. But they were safe for a long time because they had enough home security. This movie thus showed how important it was to have reliable home security monitoring security systems.
The times are tough and you hear in the news everyday how many people resort to burglary and other crimes to support their lifestyle. It would be a total bummer to work really hard for our house and other pieces of property only to lose them from intruders with malicious intentions. That means nothing if our loved ones would get hurt should burglars and other criminals be able to gain access to our homes.
You should consider your remote home security monitoring as a fantastic because it makes sure that our material possessions, our lives, and those of our loved ones are always safe. The security system should include a camera or two, as well as one or more monitors, and sensors. Your security camera’s should be put in strategic locations where they can easily spot, record and take pictures of activites in important rooms or areas. You can choose from a wide array of cameras that are available in different designs and capacities.
Your home security monitor should be able to receive clear images. You do not necessarily have to buy a new one. You can just hook up your camera/s to your LCD’s, CRT’s, or even computer monitors. You can also hook these devices to your mobile phones and computers so you can still monitor your house even if you are in the office, in a club, or on a trip. You can also use this to monitor your other properties or businesses.
Monitered home security used to be just for the rich because the devices were quite expensive. But now, more and more stores are offering them, so they have become more affordable. however, you, should be discerning of the products and the promises of stores and companies that sell these machines because the safety of yourself, your family, and your property is at stake.
You should consider how long the company has been in the business. Longevity in the business means that they have earned the trust and support of people already, which is why these people continue to patronize their products. You should also find out if their products are licensed and insured. Ask if they will pay for the damages caused by the installation of their machines. You can also ask relatives, friends and neighbors if they can recommend trustworthy and dependable home security monitoring security.
